Best Bókun Alternative: TicketingHub

Tired of Bókun's tiers? TicketingHub is a flat 3% per booking, no monthly fee — you only pay when you earn. OTA sync, Magic Link and 24/7 support included.

Stop modelling which Bókun tier fits this month's volume. TicketingHub is one number — 3% per online booking, no monthly fee — so a slow January costs you nothing and a record August never forces a plan upgrade.

Paying Bókun in months you barely sell?

Bókun's pricing has four tiers, a monthly bill from $49 to $499, and a service fee that changes with your plan and your channel. Every quiet month still costs you, and every hire nudges you toward a pricier tier. TicketingHub takes the opposite bet: 3% per online booking and nothing else — no setup fee, no monthly fee, no user cap. You only pay when you earn, and the booking widget, OTA channel manager, point of sale, Magic Link and 24/7 support are all included from day one. It's rated 5.0 on Capterra, and operators' OTA sales through it grew 401% between 2022 and 2025.

Bókun is a genuinely capable platform, and for some operators its maths works. Here's an honest comparison so you can run your own numbers.

What is Bókun?

Bókun is a booking and channel-management platform for tours and activities, owned by Tripadvisor. It serves tour operators, activity providers and attractions who want a central system for managing bookings, availability and OTA distribution.

It is sold on four tiers: Free (one user, no online booking capability), Start at $49 a month (5 users), Plus at $149 a month (10 users), and Premium at $499 a month (unlimited users). Each paid tier carries a declining service fee on top — 1.5%, 1.25% and 1% respectively — so the percentage falls as the monthly bill rises. All paid plans include a 14-day free trial and no long-term contract.

Notably, standard plans charge 0% of Bókun's own fee on Viator bookings and on offline bookings — Viator, like Bókun, is a Tripadvisor company. Operators who instead use Bókun's separate Channel Manager product to plug in an existing system pay 0.5% to 1.5% on Viator bookings rather than 0%.

What Bókun's pricing costs you — and when it doesn't

Bókun's model has two moving parts: a monthly subscription tied to a user-count tier, and a service fee that falls as that subscription rises. TicketingHub has one: 3% per online booking, no monthly fee, no user limit. One model asks you to predict your year; the other just follows it.

Do the maths for your own volume. An operator doing $10,000 a month in online bookings, mostly direct and through non-Viator channels (Viator is exempt from Bókun's own fee on standard plans, so this is the harder case for Bókun): Start costs $49 plus 1.5% ($150) = $199 a month. Plus costs $149 plus 1.25% ($125) = $274. Premium costs $499 plus 1% ($100) = $599. TicketingHub, at 3%, comes to $300.

At that steady volume, Bókun's Start and Plus tiers genuinely beat TicketingHub's flat 3% — we won't pretend otherwise. What you're trading for it is a fixed bill that arrives whether you sell $10,000 or nothing, plus a cap of 5 or 10 users. At $2,000 a month, Start costs $79 against TicketingHub's $60 — and in a zero-sales month, Start still costs $49 while TicketingHub costs nothing. If your season swings, the fixed floor is money out the door in exactly the months you can least afford it.

Why operators switch to TicketingHub

Budget one number, hire without a ceiling

No more tier arithmetic — no modelling whether this quarter justifies Plus, no user count creeping toward a forced upgrade when you take on seasonal staff. TicketingHub is 3% per online booking, always: your software cost tracks your sales, up in August, down in January, never ahead of them.

Get your evenings back

Every reschedule email you answer at 9pm is unpaid admin. Magic Link lets customers reschedule, cancel to a voucher, or amend their own booking without emailing you — you keep the sale as a new date or a voucher instead of a refund, and your inbox stays quiet. An email validator catches typos at checkout, so confirmations arrive and the "where's my booking" messages dry up too.

Fill the slots you can't sell yourself

Midweek 11am departures are hard to fill with direct traffic alone. TicketingHub's OTA channel manager pipes Viator, GetYourGuide and other resellers into the same live calendar — no double-bookings to apologise for, and no channel-manager surcharge: OTA bookings cost the same flat 3% as everything else. (On Bókun, the 0% Viator rate applies only on its standard plans; its separate Channel Manager product charges 0.5-1.5% on Viator.)

Run something you don't need a manual for

Some operators who evaluated or left Bókun told us they found it complex to run day to day (see below). As Jodie B., a business manager, put it on Capterra: "It is a huge relief to be with TicketingHub. We are really thrilled after having been with a system that was difficult to use for too long." And you're never learning alone — 24/7 chat and email support plus free migration help mean no support gap while you settle in.

What operators say about Bókun

We don't have an independently verified Capterra or G2 rating for Bókun from this research round — both review pages returned access errors. What we can draw on is TicketingHub's own record of conversations with operators who evaluated or used Bókun: several described it as complicated to run day to day or reported missed bookings and sync issues, while at least one satisfied Bókun customer said it handled their website and operations centrally with no reason to switch. A missed booking isn't an abstract bug — it's a customer at your meeting point with a ticket you never saw.

Who is Bókun right for?

  • Operators who sell primarily through Viator and want that channel effectively fee-free on a standard plan.
  • Teams comfortable managing a tiered subscription and picking the right plan for their user count and volume.
  • Operators who specifically want a Tripadvisor-connected platform for OTA distribution.

Who is TicketingHub right for?

  • ✅ You want a quiet month to cost you nothing — one number to budget against, no monthly floor.
  • ✅ You want to add staff in high season without a user-count ceiling forcing a plan upgrade.
  • ✅ You want OTA demand from Viator, GetYourGuide and other resellers flowing into one calendar at the same flat rate as every other booking.
  • ✅ You want customers fixing their own reschedules and cancellations (Magic Link) instead of filling your inbox.
  • ✅ You want 24/7 human support and free help migrating your existing bookings and products.

Proof it works

"TicketingHub is a fantastic booking management system. The abandoned cart emails have noticeably reduced the number of people that don't book." — Shannon R., small business owner, Capterra. That's recovered revenue from customers who almost got away.

City Tours Belfast grew ticket sales 400% after switching booking systems to TicketingHub, and Egypt's Sound and Light Shows grew ticket sales over 500%.

FAQs about switching from Bókun

How hard is it to migrate from Bókun to TicketingHub?

Switching costs you an afternoon, not a season. TicketingHub's team migrates your products, availability and existing bookings for free, most operators have their first product live in minutes, and there's no setup fee stopping you from running it alongside Bókun before you commit.

Will I pay more or less than on Bókun?

Do the maths for your volume — the worked example above shows Bókun's lower tiers can beat TicketingHub's 3% at steady volumes, while TicketingHub wins at low or seasonal volumes and against Bókun's higher tiers. The difference TicketingHub guarantees is this: you never pay for a month you didn't earn.

Can I try TicketingHub before fully switching from Bókun?

Yes — and that's the low-risk way to decide. No setup fee, no contract: list one product, watch how the widget and OTA sync perform against your Bókun numbers, and migrate the rest only once you're convinced. Nothing to cancel if you're not.

Run the numbers, then try it free

If your volume is seasonal or still growing, every quiet month on a Bókun subscription is $49-$499 you didn't need to spend — over a winter, that's a seasonal guide's wages. Trying the alternative costs nothing: setup is free, migration is done for you, and your first product can be live in minutes. Start free alongside Bókun and pay 3% only when a booking actually lands.
